LGBTQ - Instagram

Client: BAT- glo Japan

Agency: BEAT STUDIO

We developed for glo Japan team a campaign for LGTBQ under the concept of "Love is colorful". It was directed with the intention of giving a space for self-expression for LGBTQ community influencers. It is a set of interviews, based on their point of view of being part of the community in Japan.

Global Visual Direction

My focus was working on the visual direction. Our models were shooted on a studio, and with the help of visual sheets we projected messages that represented the main passion points from our interviews across the screen. Backgrounds had different sceneries that would represent part of the story of the interviewers. As well, we had cuts with beautiful closeups of the actors while we project interesting light across the bodies.

Influencer's themes

As part of the main core idea, each influencer had his own visual look. The visual look was defined by a part of their story or as a metaphor of universal themes related to LGBTQ community.

Themes:

Memories: We went through memory lane evoking fragments of the influencers backstory in a visual manner using iconic representations of those memories, like a forest, a house, a beach…

Fashion and Style: we defined their unique style by beautiful gradients of lights that will go across the actors.

Family: the idea of family and their repercussions like adoption or how were they raised as child, it could be defined by simple iconic objects that would define the influencers, such as butterflies wings related to the freedom desired when they were kids.

Friendship: it is a concept that binds people. We visually connected these people by lines that would empathize the idea of connection.

Profession: Keywords about their profession was picked out from the cast interview and projected over the actors.

Love and Partners: using intense saturated gradients over the actors, to symbolize the concepts the love in the LGBTQ community.

Typography

Following our projector look and feel, we animated the casted typography over the actors.
